Sink into the beauty of Scotland on this exquisite festive tour. See in the season in an authentic 12th century castle, and discover the Highlands during the sparkling winter season on two incredible rail journeys.
Begin your Scottish Christmas adventure in Edinburgh, where you meet your Tour Manager. We then get into the festive spirit with a warming mug of mulled wine that we enjoy ahead of a delicious three-course dinner.
After breakfast this morning, we begin our journey up to Dingwall, situated in the heart of the incredibly beautiful Scottish Highlands. Transferring to nearby Edinburgh Waverly station, we board a train and head through miles of outstanding natural beauty, watching as the coastal scenes and undulating hills of the Scottish lowlands transform into the dramatic vistas and wild heathercovered mountains of the Highlands. We disembark at Inverness, and transfer by coach to Dingwall. Here, we check into Tulloch Castle Hotel, which has been splendidly made up for the season in cheery festive décor.
A three-course dinner will be served in the restaurant this evening, but before that, we enjoy tea and coffee and mince pies in the atmospheric Green Lady Bar. After dinner, the staff give us an evening guided tour of the castle as we delight in some mulled wine.
Today it is Christmas, a day dedicated to enjoying the festive merriment of the season. After a Bucks Fizz breakfast, you are at leisure, perhaps to enjoy the Dingwall circular walk to whip up an appetite ahead of a five-course Christmas Day lunch. This afternoon, relax in front of the fire with a board game, or watch the Queen's Speech before finishing the day with a light buffet, served to the joyful strains of traditional Scottish music.
We take in more of Scotland today, with a journey on the Kyle Line to Kyle of Lochalsh on the northern tip of the country, enjoying a packed lunch along the way. On arrival in Kyle of Lochalsh, we head over the Sky Bridge for a short photo stop to Eilean Donan Castle, then enjoy an alternative view of our surroundings as we take a coach journey back to Dingwall, via iconic Loch Ness. This afternoon, tea and coffee are served in the hotel, then we indulge in a further bit of Scottish culture with a whisky tasting.
We travel by coach and rail back to Edinburgh today. This evening, we celebrate our incredible tour with a lively Great Scot's night at the hotel. On Day 6, our tour ends, and you are free to depart at leisure.
