Day 2 - Rome

What would a visit to Italy be without getting to know the nation's world-famous cuisine?

Today is the first of many opportunities to do so with a gourmet walking tour around Rome. Sample a variety of street foods - pizza and pasta of course included, alongside lesser known delicacies such as courgette flowers, suppli and many delicious pastries.

Ideal for first-time and return visitors to Rome alike, the tour is a great way to take in some of Rome's famous ancient sights whilst gaining a deeper knowledge of the region's specialties.

Day 3 - Naples and Pompeii

Delve into Roman history with a full day tour of Naples and the hugely important archeological site of Pompeii, all via luxury, air-conditioned bus.

Covered in ash after nearby Mount Vesuvius erupted, Pompeii is perhaps the best preserved set of Roman remains in the world. Explore via guided tour, with skip-the-line entry and a reserved area in the archeological site so you can make the most of your time there.

After lunch and a local limoncello tasting, head to Naples for a sightseeing tour of this lively, historic city before returning to Rome.

Day 4 - Rome to Florence

Transfer from your hotel to Rome rail station, to board your train to Florence Santa Maria Novella, enjoying Frecciarossa Premium Class for your journey. When you arrive, a private transfer awaits to take you to your hotel for the next three nights, the Hotel Santa Maria Novella.

You're free to explore for the rest of the day. The hotel is just a stone's throw from many of Florence's iconic sights, making an evening stroll a tempting prospect. Lose yourself in the city's medieval charm and find your go-to Italian corner bar for an evening coffee or a glass of the local vintage.

Day 5 - Florence

Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance, and the vast array of fascinating sights and attractions the city has to offer reflects this. If you're new to the city or have limited time to explore, it's hard to know where to start.

A guided walking tour is a great way to experience the highlights whilst still taking in Florence's unique atmosphere. Based around small groups so you really get the benefit of an expert guide, the tour covers top attractions such as the Cathedral (known locally as the Duomo), the medieval covered bridge the Ponte Vecchio, the Palazzo Vecchio town hall and Giotto's bell tower.

Day 6 - Florence to Venice

Take a private transfer to Florence Santa Maria Novella rail station to board your train to Venice St Lucia, travelling in premium class. On arrival, transfer to your hotel for the next two nights, the Hotel Monaco and Grand Canal.

You're free to explore for the rest of the day. Why not take a wander around Venice's world-famous canals and soak in the atmosphere ahead of tomorrow's guided tour? The city offers charms and surprises behind every corner - discover the spot that you can well and truly call your own.

Day 7 - Venice

Spend your final day sightseeing in this enchanting city. Venice is a beautiful maze of old buildings, canals and iconic sights. A small group walking tour guarantees you see the highlights without missing out on some off-the-beaten track hidden gems.

After exploring narrow alleys and old stone footbridges and learning about the city's unique history, hop aboard a traditional Venetian gondola for a ride along the Grand Canal. It's a fantastically relaxing way to experience the city and a fitting end to your Italian travels - simply sit back and spot famous landmarks from your barge, or watch the world go by.

Day 8 - Venice to London

Meet your transfer to the airport to board your flight back to London Gatwick.
