After spending the night moored in Boppard, we depart this
morning, cruising along a scenic stretch of the Rhine Gorge. As we
sail south we pass countless villages, towns and hilltop castles
surrounded by rolling vineyards, we also navigate past the imposing
Lorelei Rock, a legendary rocky outcrop that soars high above the
water line. Our destination is Rüdesheim, home to the
world-renowned Drösselgasse - a street lined with traditional pubs
and wine cellars - and one of the area's most popular wine towns.
Half-timbered medieval houses, narrow streets and old inns give
Rüdesheim the flavour of the Middle Ages. On arrival in this quaint
riverside town you could join an optional guided tour, including a
visit to Siegfried's Mechanical Music Cabinet, a museum for musical
instruments. This afternoon we take the time to explore Rüdesheim's
quaint Christmas Market, complete a life-size Nativity scene, ahead
of a special Gala dinner with the captain back on board.
