Flights to Hannoi
Days 1-2

London to Hanoi

Our far-flung adventure begins today, as we meet our Tour Manager at the airport in London. From here, we take the overnight flight to Hanoi, arriving early on Day 2. After checking into our Hanoi hotel, the 5-Star Sofitel Legend Metropole, we enjoy breakfast together. After time to settle in, we head to a local restaurant for lunch, ahead of a guided tour of Hanoi's many attractions. We begin and stop to admire Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, an imposing marble edifice which houses the remains of the former Communist leader. We take in the One-Pillar Pagoda, where Ho Chi Minh once resided, and the Quan Thanh Temple, before discovering the Temple of Literature. Our tour concludes with a stroll around the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake.

Halong Bay
Days 3-4

Cruise through Halong Bay

Today we transfer from Hanoi to Halong Bay, to embark on a delightful cruise through one of Vietnam's most scenic waterways. Travelling on a luxury junk, we enjoy a welcome drink on board, as we begin our overnight cruise. Along the way, we pause for an excursion to the Dark and Light caves, which we approach aboard bamboo rowing boats. Here we enjoy the incredible rock formations as we sail through the turquoise waters, before returning to our vessel for a cocktail on the sun deck ahead of dinner. Day 4 begins with an optional Tai Chi lesson on deck, before we visit the Sung Sot Cave - one of the most impressive limestone formations in Halong Bay. After enjoying lunch en-route, we return to Hanoi and transfer to the airport, for our flight to Hue. Here we check in to La Residence, a 5-Star hotel overlooking the Perfume River.

Hue Imperial Palace
Day 5

Discovering Hue’s cuisine

Our day begins with a morning guided tour of Hue, as we take in the main attractions of this delightful city, including the Imperial Citadel and the Royal tomb of Emperor Khai Dinh. We enjoy lunch today in the residence and gallery of Boi Tran, a famous Vietnamese artist, where we are also treated to a viewing of her collection. After an afternoon at leisure, we take a captivating gastronomic tour of Hue by cycle rickshaw this evening, as we sample authentic street food and discover how Buddhism has influenced Vietnamese cooking.

Hoi An Old Town
Days 6-7

Hoi An and a Vietnamese cookery class

We travel by rail and coach today to Hoi An via Da Nang, experiencing typical Vietnamese culture as we mingle with local commuters. We pause at Da Nang to visit the Cham Museum, before enjoying lunch in a local restaurant and transferring to Hoi An.

On Day 7, we enjoy a true highlight of our tour, as we delve into Vietnam's incredible cuisine. The day starts in the older part of Hoi An, where we enjoy a welcome drink at the Hai Café, before exploring the vibrant colours of the local market. After picking up fresh ingredients here, we board our boat for a serene cruise along the Hoi An River to a local culinary school, where this afternoon we undertake a cookery class, creating genuine Vietnamese dishes under the guidance of our expert instructors. Afterwards, we sample our creations, discovering the flavours of Vietnam

Nha Trang
Days 8-10

Nha Trang and the music of Ho Chi Minh

After breakfast today, we travel by rail to Nha Trang, where Day 9 is spent at leisure, enjoying the beauty of this charming beach resort. On Day 10 we transfer to Ho Chi Minh (formerly Saigon) on the 'Reunification Express', a name sometimes given to the trains on Vietnam's national railway network. Our journey is a true local experience, offering a unique insight into the true heart of Vietnam, as we travel alongside local passengers on a leisurely route, soaking up provincial culture and rural views. After checking into our hotel, we have some free time, ahead of this evening's performance of traditional Vietnamese music at the Opera House. We enjoy dinner together in a local restaurant tonight, and a fascinating talk on the history of Vietnam's railways from our guest speaker.

Cu Chi Tunnels
Days 11-15

Cu Chi tunnels and a cruise on the Jayarvaman

Today we uncover some of Vietnam's more recent history, with a tour of the Cu Chi tunnels, lead by a veteran of the Vietnam-American war. Afterwards, we enjoy a light lunch of pho noodles, before continuing on to a tour of Ho Chi Minh's best-kept secrets, including a visit to the hidden markets, and entrance to the Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine.

On Day 12, we board the Jayarvaman, an exquisite heritage vessel where we spend the next three nights, sailing from Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Named for one of Angkor's greatest ancient Kings, the Jayarvaman offers a luxurious way to experience the Mekong Delta, whilst its small capacity lends an intimate atmosphere. All meals are included during our exclusive cruise, as we sail through the Mekong Delta on Days 13 and 14, arriving at Phnom Penh on Day 15, where we are treated to a guided tour. We discover the striking Royal Palace, with its traditional architecture and gilded detailing, as well as the ornate Silver Pagoda. We conclude our tour with a visit to the Tuol Sleng Museum, which depicts the infamous history of the Khmer Rouge, before checking in to the 5-Star Raffles Hotel Le Royal.

Siem Reap
Day 16

Siem Reap

Today we leave Phnom Penh, transferring to the airport for our flight to Siem Reap, where we stay for the next two nights in the stunning 5-Star Raffles Grand Hotel. This evening, we enjoy traditional Khmer cuisine at the stylish Chanrey Tree restaurant.

Angkor Thom Prasat Bayon
Day 17

Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom

Our excursion today takes us to one of the finest attractions of Cambodia, as we explore the world-renowned ancient city temples of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. Starting early this morning to avoid the crowds, we first take in the incredible wonders of Angkor Wat, before enjoying lunch in a local restaurant. We then return to explore the beautiful temple of Ta Prohm, continuing onwards to the Bayon Temple and Angkor Thom - a fitting way to end the Cambodian leg of our adventure.

Days 18-19

Return to London

After a free morning and lunch at a local restaurant, we depart Siem Reap today, transferring to the airport for our overnight flight to London, arriving on Day 19.
