On arrival we enjoy a guided tour of this attractive city's rich cultural heritage and legacy of popular landmarks, including the Holstentor - a striking city gate built in a decorative brick style. We also admire the beautifully preserved Old Town. Still surrounded by the city moat, this charming area of quaint townhouses enjoys UNESCO World Heritage status. Here we see the superb array of architectural styles, including the 15th century Town Hall and Thomas Mann's House - where the Nobel-winning author was born in 1875. Following the tour you are free to continue exploring at your leisure. Perhaps visit the Niederegger Museum, home of one of the world's most renowned manufacturers of marzipan - truly the taste of Lübeck. Later we return to Hamburg by rail.

With its many exciting neighbourhoods - from the bustling harbour to the lively downtown, all well connected and easily accessible - Hamburg is a delight to explore. Perhaps visit Miniatur Wunderland, which is the world's largest model railway, featuring scenes from places as diverse as LA and Scandinavia. Alternatively, take a leisurely boat trip on the city's Alster Lake, follow in the Beatles' footsteps in lively St Pauli or relax in Hamburg's fabulous botanical gardens, in the very heart of the city.
