Itinerary

Day 1 - London and Toronto

Fly from London Heathrow to Toronto, Canada's largest city and one of the most multi-cultural in the world. Transfer to your hotel for the next two nights and enjoy the rest of the day to get to know the city. As well as a wealth of museums, Toronto boasts great art galleries, excellent restaurants and thriving shopping centres all waiting for you to discover.

Day 2 - Niagara Falls

Spend the day exploring world-famous Niagara Falls, a group of three spectacular waterfalls that span the border between Canada and the USA. Enjoy lunch at the falls, as well as time to soak up the breathtaking natural wonder, admiring the mighty thundering waters and boiling cataracts. In the early evening, you return to your hotel in Toronto via the scenic settlement of Niagara-on-the-Lake, a pretty town nestled at the point where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario.

Day 3 - Ottawa

Take the train to Ottawa, travelling in VIA Rail's business class service on your way to Canada's capital city. Transfer on your own to your hotel to begin a two-night stay. Ottawa is a particularly attractive city, set on a beautiful river and with acres of parks and gardens to show off. Blended with its natural beauty, there's a host of great national museums, lively cafés and restaurants and excellent shops for you to discover, resulting in a city that's as cosmopolitan as it is beautiful.

Day 4 - Ottawa

Head out to discover Ottawa on a guided tour this morning, seeing famous sights including Canada's Parliament Buildings, the Embassies, Rideau Falls and Canal*. For the rest of the day, you're free to explore at your own pace. Perhaps visit the National Arts Centre, take a stroll in one of the city's many lush parks, or return to Canada's Parliament buildings to explore them further. You could also enjoy a taste of Canada at one of the city's cafés or restaurants. Try poutine, the country's national dish, or for something a little more multi-cultural there's plenty of fantastic French restaurants to choose from.

Day 5 - Montreal

Board the VIA Rail train for the short journey to Montreal, travelling in business class. Montreal is one of Canada's most culturally rich cities, boasting a varied history and influences from a number of countries, including a strong French heritage. You check into your hotel for two nights before some free time. You could explore Old Montreal, an area of immaculately restored buildings and pretty cobbled streets.

Day 6 - Montreal

Enjoy more of Montreal as you set off on a morning sightseeing tour, discovering the highlights of the second largest French-speaking city in the world. You visit Old Montreal, the Notre Dame Basilica, Olympic Park and Mount Royal Park. You also see Montreal Harbour on the great St. Lawrence River, 1000 miles from the sea. Your afternoon is free to explore further. You could go shopping or treat yourself to a meal at one of the city's fantastic restaurants.

Day 7 - Quebec City

Take the train from Montreal, following the St. Lawrence River to what was the capital of New France until 1760, Quebec City. The only walled city in North America and its oldest French-speaking city, Quebec City boasts an undeniable old-world charm. The UNESCO-listed Old Town offers up a labyrinth of winding, cobblestone streets lined with 18th-century buildings, all neatly set within fortified city walls. You spend two nights in Montreal.

Day 8 - Quebec City

Today is yours to experience the charm of Quebec City, the cradle of French culture in North America. Here, a mix of relaxed café culture, sophisticated French cuisine, stunning architecture and hundreds of years of history come together to create a city quite like no other. Perhaps dine in a traditional sidewalk café or admire outdoor displays by Quebec artists, all set among 400 years of history. You could take a group guided walking tour of Old Quebec to immerse yourself in the history of the walled city and get to the heart of the hub that is Quebec City.

Day 9 - Quebec City and London

Bid farewell to Canada today as you check out of your hotel and make your way to the airport for your evening flight to London Heathrow.
