What’s included

Day 1 - London to Zurich

Your journey begins at London St Pancras, where you board the Eurostar to Paris, before transferring to your connection to the Swiss city of Zurich.

Day 2 - Zurich to Sirmione

Travel through the Alps to Desenzano in Italy. From here, make your way to your four-star hotel in the lakeside resort of Sirmione, your base for this holiday by the water.

Day 3 - Lake Garda

Situated on the southern end of the lake, Sirmione rests on a peninsula that juts out into Lake Garda, and is surrounded on three sides by water, creating a peaceful atmosphere. Your time on this holiday is free for you to spend as you please, choosing your own excursions and activities and allowing plenty of time to relax in your beautiful surroundings.

Why not spend your first day getting to know the area? Relax on a cruise, take a lakeside stroll or visit one of the lake's alluring islands. For dinner, there are a range of restaurants serving delicious local specialties.

Day 4 - Lake Garda

Continue your stay by Lake Garda, taking in some of the attractions the local area has to offer. Keen historians may like to visit the Grotte de Catullo, the ruins of a Roman villa once inhabited by the poet Catullus, situated just 15 minutes from Sirmione.

Alternatively, explore the lake's southeast shore a little further, taking in the pretty harbours, olive groves and laid-back piazzas offered by a cluster of charming villages. With a host of public transport options available, including via ferry across Lake Garda, you're not short of options.

Day 5 - Lake Garda

You could continue to relax on the lake shore today, or perhaps start to explore a little further afield.

Venice is easily accessible from Lake Garda and offers refined art galleries, stunning Renaissance architecture and world-famous sights, all across a charming network of canals and bridges. Don't worry about getting lost - it's all part of the experience and could lead to some fascinating discoveries.

Admire St Mark's Cathedral, explore the history of the city at the Doge's Palace or indulge your inner romantic with a private gondola ride through this lover's paradise.

Day 6 - Lake Garda

Another option for an extended day trip is the romantic city of Verona, the capital of northern Italy's Veneto region.

You could opt to explore Verona's famous Old Town built on the meandering Adige River. Famous as the setting for William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, it's easy to step back in time amongst the old world charm and colourful medieval alleyways.

You could also take a tour of the Verona Arena - one of the best preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world, still used for performances today - or take in city-wide views from the Torre dei Lamberti.

Day 7 - Lake Garda

Today is your final day on the shores of Lake Garda, so make the most of it however you please.

Keen foodies might be keen to explore the bountiful fresh produce and delicious regional delicacies this part of Italy has to offer. You could enjoy one of many dedicated food tours, see olives pressed into oil in Bardolino or embark on a wine tasting and pairing experience in the nearby Lazise vineyards.

Alternatively, spend the day sampling local delicacies, including freshly-caught fish from the lake and homemade pasta in Sirmione's selection of restaurants.

Day 8 - Turin

Your time in Lake Garda comes to an end, as you begin your journey home by rail, overnighting in Turin.

Day 9 - Turin to London

Complete your journey back to London, drawing your holiday to an end.
