Departure Times

Provisional departure and return times, where available, can be found together with our dates and prices by clicking on the 'Prices & Availability' button. We write to all booked customers approximately 10 weeks prior to the start of their tour to advise the exact departure and return time for their particular group.

Days 1-2

To Meringen

We begin our adventure by flying out to Zurich today. We then continue by rail Meiringen.

On Day 2 we travel by mountain railway to the Reichenbach Falls, the site of the dramatic final duel between Sherlock Holmes and his arch-enemy Moriarty.

Days 3-4

Lucerne and the Brienz-Rothorn Railway

We take the Brünig line to Brienz for an excursion by steam mountain railway to the summit of Rothorn* where we enjoy a special reception with local wines, meats and cheeses before embarking on a lake cruise to Interlaken.

On Day 4 we take the train to Lucerne where you are free to explore.

*Please note: This railway does not operate in the early season. Departures before June will enjoy a lake cruise.

Jungfrau railway
Days 5-6

To the highest station in Europe

Today we travel on the Jungfrau Railway to the Jungfraujoch - Europe's highest railway station. During the journey the train pauses at two separate observation stops, before arriving at the summit of Jungfraujoch, located 3454m above sea level, The following day is at leisure.

Schynige Platte Railway
Day 7

Schynige Platte and Harder Kulm

Today we take the cog railway through Alpine meadows to Schynige Platte, for spectacular views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau Mountains. We travel in restored 19th century carriages, hauled by a vintage electric locomotive, to the peak at 6,463 ft (1,970m). At the summit, we have time to enjoy the Alpine Botanical Garden. Later enjoy a dinner at the top of Harder Kulm.

We leave Meiringen today for our flight home out of Zurich back to the UK
