Day 1

London to Heidelberg

After meeting at our dedicated St Pancras Departure Office, we depart on the Eurostar to Paris, where we join a connecting train to Mannheim in Germany. From here we travel by coach to Heidelberg, a beautiful city set amongst sloping wooded hills of the River Neckar. An ancient seat of learning, Heidelberg has been home to Germany's most famous university since it was founded in 1386. We spend four nights in the pretty town at the 4-Star Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Day 2

Heidelberg and its Christmas Market

Heidelberg was the setting for Romberg's famous Student Prince operetta, and today we get a feel for the unique flair of the town on a guided walking tour of the magnificent Old Town, taking in the delightful sandstone buildings and crooked, narrow streets. Following our tour we take the funicular railway from the Kornmarkt to visit Heidelberg's atmospheric castle, set on a hilltop overlooking the city. In the afternoon you are free to explore Heidelberg and its Christmas Market.

Day 3


We take a coach to the former Imperial city of Frankfurt, where you can visit the wonderful Christmas Market which stretches right through the Old Town down to the River Main. You are free to absorb the sights and scents of the fantastic market, which is packed with enticing goods and crafts. Within the Old Town is the stunning Römer, a medieval building which has housed the city hall for 600 years, as well as the Kaisersaal, where coronation banquets were held during the Holy Roman Empire.

Days 4-5

To London

Today is free for you to enjoy Heidelberg's Christmas Markets, which is spread through the Old Town, and are filled with gift ideas and tasty treats. Packed with authentic stalls and brilliantly illuminated, the Christmas Markets are perfect for soaking up the festive atmosphere. Be sure to use your included 1-day Heidelberg Card for free travel on public transport, plus discounts in a number of museums, shops and restaurants. You could also take a trip to Neuburg Abbey, a Benedictine Monastery dedicated to Saint Batholomew. On Day 5 we leave Heidelberg and return to Mannheim by coach. Here we board the train to Paris, where we join the Eurostar to London.
