Our tour begins with our journey from London to Cairns, as we travel by air via Singapore, arriving in Australia on Day 3. After checking into our hotel, you are at leisure in Cairns for the remainder of the day.
Today, our exploration of Australia begins, as we embark on the Kuranda Scenic Railway, a superb 125 year-old route that travels through an area of World Heritage Rainforest. On Day 5, we take in another of the nation's natural wonders, as we cruise to the Great Barrier Reef - a highlight of any Australian adventure. Choose to snorkel through the vibrant coral for a closer look, or watch the shoals swim by in a semisubmersible vessel as we cruise along the reef wall.
We continue our journey with an internal flight to Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock. After checking into our hotel, we enjoy a guided tour of the stunning formations here. Later we enjoy a special 'Sounds of Silence' dinner under the stars in the Outback. After enjoying a meal of Australian specialities, an expert astronomer talks us through the formations in the night sky. On Day 7, we enjoy a tour of the Olgas, an imposing collection of domed rocks known as 'Kata Tjuta', or 'Many Heads', to the Aboriginal people.
Today begins with a visit to the School of Air, where rural children take lessons over the radio, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service, a unique organisation that provides medical assistance by air to those living in these rural communities. Afterwards, we board The Ghan, travelling to Adelaide. The iconic route is one of the world's greatest train journeys, with impressive views and sumptuous comfort throughout. We arrive in Adelaide on Day 9, where we are treated to a guided tour of the 'City of Churches'. On Day 10, our excursion is to Barossa Valley, with a chance to taste some of the region's superb wines.
After our internal flight to Sydney this afternoon, your time is free. On Day 12, we take a special cruise around Sydney Harbour, uncovering the history of Sydney's iconic monuments, including the famous Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. After the tour, you are at leisure. On Day 13, you may like to travel to the Blue Mountains on an optional excursion, enjoying spectacular views of the Three Sisters rock formation from Echo Point. Alternatively, choose to spend time at leisure in Sydney. On Day 14, we depart Australia and begin the New Zealand leg of our tour, flying from Sydney to Auckland. We enjoy a welcome dinner at our hotel tonight.
After transferring to Rotorua by coach, our time here begins with a visit to the Glenbrook Vintage Railway, where we enjoy a short journey on a vintage train. This afternoon, we visit the Rotorua Museum, for an audiovisual tour on Maori culture. Day 16 begins with a sightseeing tour of Rotorua, including a visit to the Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, home to geysers and pools of boiling mud. We also visit the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, where young Maori learn the crafts of their ancestors, and later explore New Zealand's wildlife, with time at Rainbow Springs and a fun, informative excursion to the Agrodome Sheep Show. This evening, we travel to a Marae, or Maori village, set amidst incredible New Zealand forest land. During our time here, we enjoy a concert of traditional Maori song and dance, featuring the high-spirited Haka, a battle dance still performed by New Zealand's rugby team prior to matches. We enjoy a buffet dinner of authentic Maori cuisine tonight, which includes hangi - food cooked over hot stones in a traditional pit oven.
Today we board the Northern Explorer for the journey to Wellington. Enjoy scenic views of the North Island's landscapes en-route, particularly as we climb the 19th century Raurimu Spiral, a masterpiece of railway engineering. On Day 18, we cruise across the Cook Strait to New Zealand's South Island, where we board the delightful Coastal Pacific train to Christchurch. Passing through the Marlborough wine region and along the Pacific Coast, enjoy panoramic views of the superb South Island scenery along the way.

Our discovery of New Zealand continues today, as we make our way to McKenzie Country, a region named for a 19th century sheep stealer. Along the way, we pass the crystal waters of glacial Lake Pukaki, travelling through the scenic surrounds of the Mount Cook National Park. On Day 20, our excursion takes us to Queenstown, pausing en-route at Arrowtown. Enjoy free time here to take in the sycamore trees and vivid history of this former frontier town. On arrival in Queenstown, we take a guided orientation tour, and after time to relax in our hotel, we are treated to a fantastic cruise across Lake Wakatipu. We enjoy a delicious buffet dinner at a restaurant on the shores of the lake, before re-boarding our vessel, a traditional coal-fired steamer, for a sing-a-long with the ship's pianist on the return journey.
Today we enjoy a wonderful excursion to Milford Sound, a breathtaking fjord within New Zealand's Fjordland National Park. Surrounded by captivating mountain peaks and plunging valleys, the park is known for its gushing cascades, waterfalls and sparkling streams, all set within acres of lush rainforest. During our time here, we take in the reflective waters of the Mirror Lakes and the Te Anau Chasm, a vast cleft in the landscape carved out over centuries by the Cleddau River. Afterwards, we continue to Milford Sound for an unforgettable cruise along this enchanting fjord, continuing past Mitre Peak and out to the open sea, where dolphins, penguins and other wildlife can often be spotted. After a buffet lunch on board, we return to Queenstown, where Day 22 is spent at leisure.
Today our excursion takes us to the Franz Josef Glacier in Westland National Park. On Day 24 we visit a greenstone factory at Hokitika, before boarding the iconic TranzAlpine Train for a mesmerising journey through the Southern Alps, travelling through glorious scenery past the Waimakiriri Valley and Arthur's Pass to Christchurch, where we enjoy a farewell dinner tonight. On Day 25, we transfer to the airport for our flight back to London via Singapore, arriving on Day 26.
