Days 1-3 Vienna

To Vienna

This morning we take our flight to sublime Vienna, where we stay for the next three nights. Day 2 begins with a tour of this Imperial city, before visiting the Schönbrunn Palace. One of the most important cultural monuments in Europe, this lavish palace is a famed UNESCO World Heritage site. We enjoy a slice of the famous sachertorte and coffee in an elegant Viennese café before a guided tour of the palace. After the tour, you have free time to stroll through its elaborate gardens. Day 3 is at leisure in Vienna.

Days 4-6 Budapest

Exploring Budapest

We leave Vienna, travelling by rail to Budapest; 'a city of two halves' straddling the majestic Danube. On Day 5, we take a guided tour of the city, enjoying the magnificent Baroque, Neo-Classical and Art Nouveau architecture. Following our tour, we join the Children's Railway. This unique service is operated by Hungarian school children as part of an extracurricular educational system developed to teach local teenagers about the capitals rail network. On this 7 mile long track, the longest of its kind in the world, we take a journey through beautiful woodland and rural farmland around the city.

Day 6 is at leisure to explore Budapest at your own pace. Perhaps explore the historical region of Buda, or head to the lively modern region of Pest, where you can enjoy excellent shopping. We enjoy a dinner cruise along the Danube this evening.

Days 7-9 Prague

Discovering Prague

We depart Budapest by train, travelling through Slovakia and the city of Bratislava, to Prague. On Day 8, we enjoy a guided tour of the ancient city, during which we discover some of Prague's most famous sights.

We visit Hradcany Castle, the largest medieval complex in Europe, and pass the Gothic spires of St Vitus' Cathedral. Day 9 is spent at leisure.

To Berlin

This morning we leave Prague, heading northwards to Berlin by rail. En-route to the hotel we enjoy an introductory sightseeing tour of this fascinating oncedivided city. Day 11 is spent at leisure.
