Sample the delights of a Swiss Christmas with this fantastic festive tour, staying on the banks of Lake Geneva, in magnificent Montreux. Experience wintry railway journeys, charming Alpine villages and Christmas Day in Switzerland.


What’s included


Day 1 – London to Montreux

We begin our Swiss adventure at our dedicated Departure Office in London St Pancras. From here, we board the Eurostar service to Paris before continuing on by rail to Lausanne. We then change trains, ahead of our arrival into Montreux, on the banks of shimmering Lake Geneva.

Day 2 – Château de Chillon

Today we enjoy a morning at leisure in Montreux before making our way by trolley bus along the lakefront to the majestic Château de Chillon. This resplendent medieval fortress is an iconic Swiss sight, and we enjoy a tour of the beautiful interiors and impregnable walls. You are free to make your way back in your own time, perhaps spend the evening exploring the Christmas markets along the shores of the lake.

Days 3-4 – Les Diablerets and Christmas Day

We embark on a brief rail journey this morning from Montreux to the charming village of Les Diablerets. This picture perfect resort is nestled among the mountaintops, offering dazzling views of the Alps in all of their crisp, wintry perfection. Here, we enjoy a snowshoe walk, strolling through the marvellous landscape on this specialised footwear. On our return to Montreux, we sit down to a spectacular Christmas Eve banquet. On Day 4, you are free to explore your surroundings before a Christmas brunch.

Les Diablerets
Days 5-6 – Mont Blanc Express

Our excursion on Boxing Day sees us travel first to Martigny where we board the fantastic Mont Blanc Express. A stunning rail experience, the Mont Blanc Express whisks passengers away through a winter wonderland of deep forests and astonishing panoramas. You arrive into pretty Chamonix where you have time to explore before the scenic journey back to Montreux. The following day is at leisure.

Day 7 – The cheese of Gruyères

We take a coach to the famous cheese-making town of Gruyères today, where we visit the Maison de Gruyères for a guided tour. Later, we continue to Gstaad where we board the GoldenPass Panoramic Train for a glorious rail journey back through the snowbound scenery.

Day 8 – Return home

We leave Montreux today, travelling by rail to Paris via Lausanne. On arrival in the French capital, we board a Eurostar train back to London.
