Day 2

The Royal Yacht Britannia

After breakfast today, our Scottish holiday begins with an exclusive private excursion to Her Majesty's Yacht Britannia. Used as the Royal yacht for over 40 years, the Britannia is now permanently moored in Edinburgh. During our private visit aboard, we learn how the Royal Family enjoyed spending leisure time here, as well as discovering the HMY Britannia's role as an ambassador for Britain throughout the world. After the excursion, your afternoon is free; perhaps explore Edinburgh's delightful Christmas market. The charming streets of Edinburgh provide the perfect backdrop for this magical Christmas fare, filled with festive food and wonderful gift ideas. This evening, we enjoy a Great Scots dinner, complete with a traditional Scottish feast, folklore tales, bagpipes, and a ceilidh.

Today we embark on a fantastic journey on the Borders Railway, a brand-new line opened in 2015, enjoying the scenery of the Borders en-route to Tweedbank. On arrival, we transfer by coach to Abbotsford House, where we are treated to a guided tour. Nestled on the south bank of the River Tweed, Abbotsford House was once the residence of the famous Scottish poet, Sir Walter Scott. Floors Castle and Johnstons of Elgin

Our day begins with a visit to Floors Castle, home to the Duke of Roxburghe. After touring the impressive estate and grounds, we continue to Hawick, for a tour of a Johnston of Elgin wool mill. Here we watch as cashmere garments are hand-crafted by experts, creating the famous woollen products Johnston of Elgin has manufactured in the Scottish Borders since 1797.
