The proud and charming capital of New England, Boston is perhaps one of the USA's most attractive cities, characterised by its effortless blend of metropolis and lush parks and gardens, and the distinctive mirrored John Hancock Tower. We discover some of its top sights and attractions on a guided tour by coach and on foot this morning. We see the Back Bay neighbourhood, one of Boston's most affluent, renowned for its array of appealing Victorian brownstone houses, which are some of the best-preserved examples of 19th century urban design in the USA. We continue to the USS Constitution, the oldest surviving warship in the world, before following parts of the famous Freedom Trail into the city centre. We see Harvard University, one of the world's most prestigious academic institutions and America's oldest university, as well as Copley Square and Boston's other most affluent neighbourhood, Beacon Hill. The rest of your day is then at leisure to continue exploring this charming city at your own pace. You might like to return to the Harbour for a cruise, take in Paul Revere House or the superb Aquarium, or simply enjoy a relaxing stroll in one of Boston's many inviting parks.

Arriving early afternoon, we transfer to our hotel for two nights, the rest of your day is at leisure. New York is simply brimming with activities and sights, with something for everyone. Popular options include cruises to Liberty Island, home of the iconic Statue of Liberty; and Ellis Island, which today houses a fascinating museum of the island's history as an immigration centre. Both islands also offer a fantastic vantage point for unencumbered vistas of the Manhattan skyline. The World Trade Centre Memorial is a heartrendering experience, and is well worth the visit. Another popular option is the High Line, a vibrant city garden created on the remains of a former suburban railway line. You might also like to ascend the Empire State Building and admire the superb panoramas, or perhaps take in one of the numerous art galleries or museums. On Day 6 we firstly visit Central Park, a true vast oasis amidst the relative chaos of the city, with some beautifully landscaped gardens.
