Meet the Team
Great Rail Journeys are the UK's leading operator of holidays by rail - we've been organising escorted rail holidays for over 30 years. We are dedicated rail specialists; nobody understands rail holidays like we do.
Our head office is based in the very centre of York, a city with a proud railway heritage. It is here that our specialist team create the tours and organise every part of the holiday experience - from booking, ticketing, rail planning, Tour-Manager management, customer services… and much more.
It takes a lot of personality to make a great rail holiday and there are over 100 staff working from our office in York, working in a variety of roles across a number of departments. Click on the names shown to the left to find out about the roles of a few of the key members of staff.
The Product Team
The members of our Product Team are the people who create our holidays. They research the destinations, visit the hotels, plan and arrange excursions and sightseeing tours, discover local restaurants for lunch… in fact, every detail of every holiday is planned and created by our experienced Product Team.
The Content Team
The Content Team at Great Rail Journeys are responsible for all of the information you read about our holidays - in the brochures, on the website, in our travel documentation. The Content Team will write about the experience of taking a rail holiday, let you know what you can expect to see and do on each tour and produce first-hand reviews of the holiday experience. While on a Great Rail Journeys holiday, you might bump into a member of the Content Team, pen and pad in hand, experiencing the different aspects of the tour to report back to our customers.
The Transport Team
We take great care planning our itineraries to ensure you travel on the best trains available, have reserved seats throughout the tour, enjoy easy connections and travel at the most convenient times. Our Transport Team are rail experts who spend hundreds of hours looking at timetables and rail maps to create seamless tours on modern trains.
The Sales Team
Our team of specialist Tour Advisors, managed by Sales Manager Jon Brodrick, are the people at Great Rail Journeys who you will speak to if you are thinking of making a booking, or if you just want to find out more information about one or more of our holidays. They are available on the telephone, or by email, and can answer those all-important questions about each holiday:
- Does the hotel have a lift?
- What is the weather like in India during November?
- What time is the train likely to leave St Pancras at the start of the holiday?
- Can I upgrade to a sea-view room?
Our Tour Advisors will answer your questions and help you to make a booking. If you are not sure which holiday to choose, you can have a conversation with a Tour Advisor; they will help you find the perfect tour for you. Call 01904 734154 to speak to a Tour Advisor.
The Customer Services Team
Once you have made your holiday booking, our Customer Services Team will arrange all of your holiday documentation and take care of the details which help the holiday to run as smoothly and hassle-free as possible. They will send you information about your holiday - what to pack, where to meet the group, how to reach St Pancras…and much more. They can also organise your UK rail tickets, book holiday extensions and overnight hotels in London, help you with visa applications - in fact, anything you need.
If you have questions about the holiday you have booked, our Customer Services Team area here to help. Call 01904 527105 to speak to a member of our Customer Services Team.
The Tour-Manager Management Team
At Great Rail Journeys, we have over 340 professional Tour Managers. Every one of our tours is escorted by a Tour Manager. Our Tour-Manager Management team is responsible for recruiting and supporting our Tour Managers. They make sure each Tour Manager has the training, knowledge and personality for the job - and then allocate a tour to match the individual skills and experience of the Tour Manager.
