“It was a wonderful experience. The tour managers were excellent - very knowledgeable and organised. The Amadeus Star is a beautiful and comfortable cruise ship with extremely helpful and friendly crew. The food was excellent - and plenty of it. The train journeys were comfortable and the city tours were most informative. For improvement it would be nice to have some more time to discover the cities on our own and do some shopping. One criticism (which I am aware that GRJ probably can do nothing about) is the cramped Eurostar lounge at Brussels station.

“We had a little bit of an issue with BA cancelling our outward flight at short notice but the GRJ managed to get things sorted out. From boarding the boat to us flying back from Amsterdam, the service was great from both the GRJ team and boat crew. God's balance of cruising and choices of excursions.

“We both really enjoyed our first cruise of any type. Our tour guide for the Jungfrau Express part of the trip, Ian Boyle, was the best we have experienced whilst travelling with your company. Organised and adaptable, he provided all the information we required and more; for example, we would have been unlikely to discover the boat tour of Strasbourg which we greatly enjoyed. We enjoyed our hotel in Strasbourg, being pleasingly large and situated near the station. Whilst we found some of the fittings in the hotel in Interlaken a little tired, we enjoyed the experience of eating on the 14th floor with its stunning views. The cruise ship was excellent and we can't speak too highly of the staff. The cabin was excellent and spacious and we enjoyed being able to unpack the suitcase, but being able to visit different places and will go on another river cruise in the future. The only negative was on the last day when we had to get up very early to travel on a coach to Brussels rather than a train from Amsterdam. Whilst we fully understand the problems of obtaining the train tickets, we were first told that this issue was a one-off, but later discovered it had been a problem all summer. Yet, this was not mentioned at all in the information pack received a fortnight before the trip.
