Luxury Indian Escorted Tours

From small steam-powered lines in the mountains to major intercity routes, India boasts the largest railway network of any country in the world. With so many miles of tracks, it is perhaps not surprising that there is also a fantastic collection of Indian luxury trains. In our fabulous collection of rail holidays to India, we utilise some of these splendid trains - with each of them harking back to a magnificent bygone era of rail travel.

The exact facilities vary slightly between trains, but each offers a similarly glamorous experience. Meanwhile, the Deccan Odyssey is celebrated for its brilliant range of both Indian and international cuisine, and the Golden Chariot includes a spa carriage offering some great pampering and relaxation treatments. When these factors are combined with the trains' opulent interiors, you are bound to feel like royalty during your time on board.

What's more, our array of holidays on Indian luxury trains also include an outstanding programme of excursions. Whether you are eager to see the breathtaking Taj Mahal - commonly regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World - or are more excited by the Agra Fort, our tours take in many of India's most famous sights. We also discover some of India's lesser-known treasures too; by travelling along the railway network, we see much of India that generally remains hidden from the view of tourists. Such excursions include the abandoned 16th century city of Fatehpur Sikri and the immense Meenakshi Teple in Madurai. We also get glimpses of local culture in this colourful country, with activities such as tiger-spotting or watching the traditional dancers in Kerala.

All of our holidays are led by a professional Tour Manager, so you can simply relax and absorb the fantastic atmosphere on board one of the Indian luxury trains. As most meals and the exciting packages of excursions are all included, you can feel like royalty on board a glamorous train for a great value.

“Great, full on India experience. For me the highlights were Jaipur and Agra. Lots of travelling and perhaps an extra day in Jaipur and Agra would have improved the trip You will need a couple of days at the end to recover

“It was a superb trip - India is a fabulous country could never disappoint, Nepal is also a great place to visit. However, a crammed itinerary with long coach journeys, long train journeys and many internal flights - not much time to catch your breath! I think the Itinerary needs to cut down on coach time in Nepal - an internal flight would help. Also, the long dirty train journey into Varanasi was unnecessary when there's a high speed alternative! Travellers to Kathmandu need to be aware how dusty the city is and the need for nose and mouth masks. Loved the extension to Kerala for a much needed rest! All in all a brilliant trip.
