“Wonderful holiday - staff on barge excellent. Food (except the meat) very French and delicious. Places interesting and unusual 'Course Camarguaise' (bulls in arena), olive oil making farm and Roman ruins (Arles) Transfer thro' Paris once again a shambles - Gt Rail need to sort this out - but ride in a Parisian taxi was much more exciting than a coach! More barge holidays will be booked!

“It was a wonderful trip. Food was excellently cooked and presented. The whole crew were wonderful and did their utmost to keep us happy, surpassing their remit on many occasions. The excursions were interesting and well organised. My only gripe is that we did not have any information about what we were seeing when we sailed through the Seine.

“Actual cruising was brilliant - excellent food, first class & personal service. Very relaxing pace, interesting towns & countryside plus the amazing inclined plane. Highly recommended. Journey from Paris to Strasbourg & return left a lot to be desired. One coach did not turn up, waited for almost an hour in the wrong place for another coach & had reserved tickets on a rail coach that did not run! Took almost 7 hours to get from Paris North to our boat, most of the time hanging around waiting.

“The cruise was most enjoyable, even though it was not the itinerary we had chosen or hoped for. The barge was comfortable enough, the food was excellent and the crew all worked like Trojans. The canal offered a timeless view of the France I remember from the 1960s. That said, I felt that the way the change of itinerary was presented, at the last minute when it must have been known about for weeks, left much to be desired. The company expressed itself happy to offer the new itinerary, when surely what mattered was whether we were happy with it. There was no hint of an apology. The attitude seemed to be "They won't know where any of these places are anyway, so they won't know the difference." Perhaps the legal department doesn't allow apologies? Having got over the initial disappointment, however, this was a most welcome first trip abroad in three years.

“This was a lovely cruise, with fabulous food and wines. It was leisurely and travels on some lovely waterways. The cabins were comfortable and the lounge, dining room and outdoor deck were all delightful. The staff on the barge were very friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. My main problem was that Croisi Europe did not allocate us to the cabins we had reserved with GRJ. I feel this is an issue with Croisi which needs to be addressed for future cruises. I understand that at least one other customer in addition to my cabin choice had specific reasons for choosing their cabin with GRJ. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.
