See the tomb of El Cid
The city of Burgos is located at the confluence of the Arlanzon River tributaries. It is most famous for its UNESCO-protected cathedral, which forms part of the Pilgrimage Route of St James. Within the cathedral lies the tomb of El Cid - a Castilian nobleman and military leader who is regarded as a Spanish hero.
As well as the cathedral, Burgos also boasts some attractive medieval architecture and other important sights, monuments and buildings, including the Cartuja de Miraflores and the Monastery of Las Huelgas.
