Escorted Rail Tours to Nijmegen
Enjoy the Grote Markt and Waalkade waterway
Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands and has been inhabited for 2,000 years. Notable sights in Nijmegen include the old buildings on the Grote Markt, the Waalkade, which is one of Europe's busiest waterways, or the Museum Het Valkhof, which has a permanent display of the history of Nijmegen including artefacts from the Roman era.
The city was comprehensively destroyed during World War II, and although some rebuilding has taken place, it does not truly reflect the city it once was, unlike some other cities in Holland that suffered a similar fate.
