Escorted Rail Tours to Ellora Caves
Discover Buddhist, Hindu and Jain temples
Located 19 miles (30 kilometres) from Aurangabad in Maharashtra, the Ellora Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to 600AD that bring the civilisation of ancient India to life. Here, ancient Buddhist, Hindu and Jain culture can be experienced through the vast monasteries, temples and shrines carved into the rock face. These illustrate the spirit of tolerance, which allowed the three religions to establish their sanctuaries and communities. The 34 monasteries and temples extend over more than a mile, including 12 Buddhist Caves, 17 Hindu Caves and five Jain Caves.
