This terrific Scottish short break is based in Inverness on the banks of the beautiful River Ness. We spend four nights here and enjoy three full days of excursions. Our first excursion takes us on a return journey on the Jacobite Steam Train* to Mallaig, including a crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct. The following day we travel along the full length of the Kyle Line to Kyle of Lochalsh and continue to the tiny island of Eileen Donan on Loch Duich before retracing our route to Inverness. Our final excursion takes us on the nostalgic Strathspey Steam Railway and the Cairngorm Mountain Railway, Scotland's only funicular railway.
*On early departures the Jacobite Steam Train does not operate and we make this excursion using Scotrail's scheduled service. Please call us for details.
