b'COPENHAGEN ULTIMATE SCANDINAVIA AND THE POLAR EXPRESSYOUR ITINERARYDays 1-3 - London, Bremen and CopenhagenAfter meeting at London St Pancras, we take the Eurostar to Brussels, continuing to Bremen for the night. We catch the train to Copenhagen for two nights on Day 2, travelling via Hamburg. A guided tour on Day 3 features the magnificent Amalienborg Palace, a large octagonalmansion surrounded by four identical Rococo palaces. One of these is still home to the reigning monarch of Denmark, Queen Margrethe II. We also visit the famous Little Mermaid statue before taking a cruise through the colourful canal area of Nyhavn. Your afternoon is free.Days 4-5 - StockholmWe take the train to Swedens capital today, transferring to our hotel TRONDHEIM for two nights on arrival. Day 5 starts with a guided tour by coach that includes the Royal Palace, the citys cathedral, the narrow streets of Gamla Stan, also known as the Old Town, City Hall and the tranquil island of Djurgrden. Afterwards, we take a well-deserved fika, the Swedish term for a coffee and cake break. Your afternoon is then free.Days 6-7 - stersund and a Sami experienceWe head inland by rail to stersund, nestled on the shores of Lake Storsjn - Swedens fifth largest lake. On Day 7, we join the Inlandsbanan to Sorsele, visiting the Inlandsbanan Museum here on arrival. Next, we call at a traditional Sami village, home to some of Scandinavias indigenous people, before continuing to Arjeplog for the night. Dinner this evening is enjoyed around an open fire in a traditional tipi or lavvu.Days 8-9 - Jokkmokk and the Ofoten RailwayWe travel around the lakes and forests of Swedish Lapland by coach, GEIRANGERFJORD making our way to Jokkmokk. Along the way, we cross the Arctic Circle into the Land of the Midnight Sun, marking the occasion with a small celebration en route. On Day 9, we join the Ofoten Railway to Narvik, enjoying a scenic journey filled with remote landscapes that offer dramatic views of the surrounding mountains, fjords and waterfalls.Days 10-13 - Narvik and the Polar ExpressThis morning, we visit the War Museum with the rest of our day free. We travel to Fauske on Day 11, where we join the Nordland Railway, also known as the Polar Express for a journey south, travelling through some of the most stunning scenery in Norway. Disembarking in Verdal, we spend the night in Stiklestad. After a short tour on Day 12, we travel to Trondheim by coach, soaking in views of Norways rugged east coast. We discover the countrys former Viking capital with a guided tour on Day 13. Founded in the 10th century, Trondheim is one of the oldest and largest cities in Norway and is brimming with history.FLAM RAILWAY Days 14-17 - Rauma Railway, Geirangerfjord and the Flm RailwayWe leave Trondheim by rail, travelling to Dombs to join the 71-mile-long Rauma Railway for the scenic journey to ndalsnes. From here, we continue to Geiranger by coach and ferry for a two-night stay. We enjoy the beautiful scenery of Geirangerfjord on Day 15, a UNESCO World Heritage site which we explore by boat. This is followed by a visit to the striking Dalsnibba viewing point. We transfer by coach to Flm on Day 16, stopping off at Kaupangers unique stave church along the way. Day 17 includes a superb excursion on the Flm Railway, which takes us into the mountains along one of the steepest lines in the world. We reach Myrdal and return to Flm, driving to Gudvangen where we set sail aboard a luxury eco ship for a cruise across Sognefjord. Afterwards, we continue to Bergen by coach.24 SCANDINAVIA AND RUSSIA'
