b'FISHERMENS BASTION, BUDAPEST DELIGHTS OF THE DANUBE YOUR ITINERARYDay 1 - London and NurembergWe meet at London St Pancras and board the Eurostar to Brussels. From here, we continue to Nuremberg for the night, travelling via Cologne. Day 2 - By rail to BudapestBoarding the train to Vienna, we continue to Budapest and board our luxurious ship, enjoying the chance to sip a cocktail in the lounge before dinner is served. Later, we admire the stunning illuminated sights of Budapest on an atmospheric night-time cruise. Relax as were entertained by a traditional Hungarian Folklore troupe, admiring the pretty city lights as they glide past our windows, or head to the sun deck to immerse yourself in panoramic city views. Day 3 - Discovering BudapestWere introduced to the beauty and history of Budapest on a guided tour. We stroll past impressive buildings and monuments on both sides of the mighty Danube, including the striking, neo-Gothic Parliament building, one of Budapests most famous sights. We also discover the magnificent State Opera House, St Stephens Basilica, Budapest Castle, Matthias Church and Fishermens Bastion. After lunch on board, youre free to explore a little further before we begin cruising to Bratislava. Our journey takes us through the spectacular Danube Bend, a sprawling canvas of scenic forested peaks. From the sun deck or panoramic windows in the bar, keep your eyes out for castle ruins, churches and pretty houses hidden in the hills and dense forests. HALLSTATTDay 4 - BratislavaWe arrive in the Slovakian capital of Bratislava, setting out on a VIENNA OPERA HOUSE fascinating guided tour after lunch. Bratislava is divided neatly into two parts by the waters of the Danube, and we have time to get to know both the Baroque Old Town and the newer city. As we explore the historic streets were immersed in the vibrancy of the city, which boasts dramatic Gothic buildings, Baroque palaces and a wealth of fantastic museums and galleries, alongside a refreshing cosmopolitan atmosphere. Following our tour, you have plenty of free time to explore the citys tangle of cobblestoned roads, pedestrianised plazas, 18th-century Rococo buildings and street cafs. Perhaps head to a bar and sample Slivovica, a traditional Slovak spirit made with damson plums. Day 5 - The history and music of ViennaAfter a calm night of cruising, we arrive in glorious Vienna for a sightseeing tour. This is a chance to relish in Austrias Imperial culture, one full of tradition and rich in architectural, artistic and musical heritage. We see many of Viennas most ornate buildings, including the impressive Opera House - one of the leading opera venues in the world, as well as the grand Parliament Building. Tonight, a real treat awaits us in the lounge. After dinner, were joined by musicians from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for a private recital. Be whisked away by the music as you immerse yourself in this exceptional experience. Day 6 - Melk AbbeyWe reach Austrias Wachau Valley, a famous wine-making region, arriving in the idyllic village of Drnstein where you have free time to sample the renowned local wine. Back on board, we sit down to lunch and begin cruising along the Wachau Valley. Truly a highlight of the river, this scenic area of green valleys and vineyards rising up from the river is dotted with picturesque riverside towns and commanding fortresses. We enjoy a visit to Melk Abbey, a 11th-century Benedictine Abbey which stands MELK ABBEY on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube.
