We arrive at the town of Chteau-Thierry and set out on foot for a tour of the Jean de la Fontaine Museum, situated in the poets family home. We follow this by getting to know the town itself on a guided tour. Chteau-Thierry became the site of two major battles first during the Napoleonic wars and then in WWI, and today boasts a rich historical heritage and a number of pretty buildings to admire. We take time to soak in views of the castle walls and the Hotel Dieu, where Jean de la Fontaine once lived. Days 5-7 - Dormans, the Champagne Route and LondonToday, we head out to discover the famous Champagne Route including a visit to the village of Hautvilliers, the birthplace of Dom Prignon, a Benedictine monk who created the Champagne method of producing this distinctive sparkling wine. We follow this with a delicious tasting at one of the leading Champagne houses in the area, sampling this iconic beverage. On Day 6, we visit Reims, famous for its cathedral Notre-Dame de Reims. Discover stained glass windows, majestic sculptures, and impressive architecture during our visit to this beautiful city, where we enjoy a guided tour as well as a visit to the cathedral. We return to the ship this evening for a fantastic gala dinner. On Day 7, we disembark for the final time and transfer to Paris Gare du Nord station.
