On the 26th January 1915, Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President of the United States, signed a legislation that created the Rocky Mountain National Park. The incredibly beautiful national park enjoys a landscape that is unique to the area. One of the features of the park is the incredible mountain views - one third of the park is above the tree-line. The Continental Divide runs right throughout the middle of the park.
In grassy valleys and weather-ravaged mountain peaks, the Rocky Mountain National Park is home to a wide array of wildlife including elk, deer, moose, bighorn sheep, black bears, coyotes, cougars, eagles, hawks and countless smaller animals. Estes Park is the capital of the national park and is where you will find The Stanley Hotel, a fabulous Edwardian building that inspired Stephen King, while staying as a guest in the hotel, to change the setting for part of his book 'The Shining'.
