Days 4-5 - Pontcysyllte aqueduct and Chester
Today, we cross over the border into North Wales, and Llangollen
Wharf. Here, we take a boat journey across the Pontcysyllte
aqueduct, the highest of its kind in the world, and the oldest of
its kind in Great Britain. So incredible is the feat of engineering
posed by this aqueduct, it has been given UNESCO World Heritage
status.
After our trip, we walk to the railway station for a return
journey on the Llangollen Railway to Carrog. This route takes us
through some of Wales' most beautiful countryside and is a delight
to journey on. This evening, there is live entertainment after
dinner at the hotel to celebrate Boxing Day, and the end of the
tour.
On Day 5, you are free to relax in Chester and
bid farewell in your own time.
