Spain's spectacular northern shores yield a beautiful stretch of untouched coastline, rising proudly from the Atlantic Ocean. This tour takes you to some of the fantastic highlights of the region, beginning in the refined wine city of Bordeaux in France, and curling down across the border into the natural paradise of northern Spain.

Days 1-2 Bordeaux

To Bordeaux

We meet at London St Pancras for the Eurostar service to Paris. On arrival, we change trains to travel to Bordeaux in southern France. On Day 2 we are treated to a comprehensive tour, seeing the Place de la Bourse and the cathedral. Later we head to the famous Saint-Emillion wine-making region where we pay a visit to a traditional wine château, sitting down to enjoy a lunch with the owners of the estate. We continue from here to the village and vineyard of Saint-Emillion for a tour and time to explore.

On to Bilbao

Departing Bordeaux today, we cross over the border to Spain where we travel by coach to San Sebastian. After some time here to explore, we head on to Bilbao and check into our hotel before dinner. We visit the iconic Guggenheim Museum on Day 4 before enjoying a tour taking in the historic heart of beautiful Bilbao. On Day 5, we discover the spectacular viticulture of Rioja. The towns here produce world-famous Rioja wines and we stop first at La Guardia, before continuing to Marques de Riscal. Here, we enjoy a sublime lunch before heading to the charming town of Haro.

Exploring León

We carry on to León (Standard Class) where we check into our hotel. We take a guided tour of the fascinating Old Town, seeing the classic architecture and bustling squares. On Day 7, our tour takes us across to Santiago de Compostela (Standard Class), a city full of history.

Santiago de Compostela and the coastal towns

We uncover the reverent elegance of Santiago de Compostela on a guided tour. The iconic cathedral here is of enormous importance, with its steps being the final destination on the pilgrimage of St James. On Day 9, we head out into the countryside with an excursion to discover the Galician Coast with the travel between each revealing the astonishing natural beauty of northern Spain at its finest. We visit Pontevedra, Combarro and O Grove, where we enjoy a catamaran cruise. We continue to Cambados before returning to Santiago for dinner at the historic parador.

Madrid and return home

Leaving Santiago today, we travel to Madrid and check into our hotel. The following day, we embark on a city tour by coach and foot of the Spanish capital, before a farewell meal together. Our final day sees us travel to the airport for our flight back to London.
