Today we explore Torbay's splendid coastline, beginning with a short coach journey to Paignton. Here we board the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway which takes us along the scenic Devon coastline and the tranquil River Dart to Kingswear. We cross the Dart Estuary by ferry on the short journey to Dartmouth, where we have some time to explore this elegant riverside town. You could perhaps visit the beautiful Royal Avenue Gardens, or maybe discover some of the town's architecture. We then continue on a cruise boat up the river to Totnes from where we return by coach to the hotel. (B,D)
Today you have a free day to explore Torquay at your own leisure. Why not take a stroll along the palm treelined promenade with its lively harbour? Alternatively you may want to visit Torre Abbey, Torquay's oldest building which is set amidst stunning gardens and now houses a fascinating museum. Rail enthusiasts will enjoy the South Devon Railway which operates between Totnes and Buckfastleigh along the river Dart. (B,D)
Today we venture into Cornwall by coach for a full day's excursion to the Eden Project. Situated in an old china claypit, this iconic landmark is a celebration of environmental conservation. Its distinctive plastic domes are the largest greenhouses in the world, and contain a large collection of exotic flora and fauna from around the world. (B,D)
