We depart St Pancras International and travel via Brussels to Cologne for an overnight stay. On Day 2 we continue by high-speed train to Vienna for three nights at the Mercure Grand Hotel Biedermeier. (Day 1-D; Day 2-B,D)
We start New Year's Eve by discovering the sights of Vienna during a guided sightseeing tour, taking in the grand imperial architecture on the famous Ringstrasse. The afternoon is free for you to discover this elegant city and perhaps try a Viennese coffee in one of the many traditional coffee houses. In the evening we travel to the historic town of Grinzing where we enjoy a gala buffet dinner accompanied by live music to celebrate the New Year. (B,D)
On New Year's Day you are free to explore one of the great European capitals, a city full of tradition and rich in architectural, artistic and musical heritage. Vienna is full of reminders of its imperial heyday, from the regal Hofburg Palace to the magnificent Baroque Belvedere Palace. (B,D)
We depart Vienna and travel by train to Salzburg. Our hotel for three nights is the elegant 5-star Hotel Bristol, a long time favourite with our customers. In the afternoon we admire the Old Town of Salzburg during a guided walking tour, which takes us past splendid Baroque towers and along the famous Getreidegasse. Day 6 is free for you to relax and enjoy the hotel facilities or explore chocolate-box Salzburg with a walk in the crisp winter air. (Day 5- B,D; Day 6-B)
On Day 7 we enjoy a tour of some of the beautiful mountains and lakes around Salzburg - some of which were used as locations in the classic film "The Sound of Music". We see Lakes Wolfgang and Mondsee, and we also pass the glamorous Hellbrunn Castle. We depart Salzburg on Day 8 and travel via Munich to Cologne for an overnight stay. Our journey continues on Day 9 to Brussels, where we connect with Eurostar to St Pancras International. (Day 7-B,D; Day 8-B,D; Day 9-B)
