This wonderful tour takes in the entire length of the Glacier Express on the 'Bernina Line', which celebrates its centenary in 2010. A glorious holiday based in the glamorous mountain villages of Zermatt and St Moritz, high in the Swiss Alps. This tour is even more special in 2010, on selected departure dates we'll be travelling in 1930's Pullman carriages on the Bernina Express.

The highlight of the tour was the stunning journey by the luxurious Glacier Express, which despite its name, winds its way oh so slowly across Switzerland from Zermatt to St. Moritz. We sat in a glass roofed observation carriage with food and drink served at our tables as the jaw-dropping sights passed our view. Talk about taking in scenery in style.

And then there was that first amazing glimpse of the magnificent Matterhorn, as we walked from the railway station to our hotel in Zermatt, where we spent four nights. From Zermatt, cable cars and railways lifted us thousands of feet up into the mountains. In fact we were so high up that birds of prey were actually wheeling below us. Truly a one-off experience.

Customers also loved the breathtaking setting of the lake at St. Moritz, ringed by ever-present Alpine mountain ranges. From here, another scenic train trip led us to Stresa on Lake Maggiore, where we jumped a boat for a tiny island and a lovely rustic lunch in a traditional local trattoria. Why is this tour so special? It's simply spectacular.
