This morning we take a coach to the restored Bo'ness &
Kinneil Railway for a journey hauled by a preserved
locomotive*. Our trip takes us along the shore of the mighty Forth
and into the hills as we make our way to Birkhill, set in
attractive woodlands. Later we head to the Falkirk Wheel, a magnifi
cent structure that links the Union and Forth and Clyde canals -
overcoming a height difference of 79ft. We enjoy a boat trip on
both canals, experiencing the wheel in action during the journey

Today we discover more of Edinburgh on a guided sightseeing tour of the Royal Mile, the cobbled main street of the old city. Following the tour, you are free to continue exploring at your own pace. (B)
Today is free for you to explore Edinburgh at your own pace. Cosmopolitan, cultured and brimming with history, Edinburgh is a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage site, offering something for all. Perhaps visit the Palace of Holyrood House and of course the famous Edinburgh Castle. The Royal Yacht Britannia is also well worth a visit, or admire the view from Arthur's Seat, with its tremendous vista over the city and the Firth of Forth. (B)
Today's excursion takes us by rail to the charming town of Balloch, set on the shore of Loch Lomond. Here we enjoy a cruise on the famous lake, which is Britain's largest body of inland water. We admire the tranquil waters whilst taking in grand stately homes including Balloch Castle and some of the lake's pretty islands. (B,D)
