Our tours of Canada typically depart the UK between 10am and 1pm. However, our Rockies and Alaska Cruise departs in the late afternoon, at 5:35pm.

We write to all booked customers approximately 10 weeks prior to the start of their tour to advise the exact departure and return time for their particular group.

Toronto
Days 1-3

Fly to Toronto

We depart from London Heathrow to Toronto, arriving mid-afternoon. Our hotel for three nights is the Eaton Chelsea Hotel, located in the heart of Toronto's downtown, close to many of the city's main attractions. Toronto is a multicultural melting-pot with an inviting, laid-back atmosphere. The city looks out across mesmerising Lake Ontario from its position on the northern shore, and is overlooked by the CN Tower, one of the tallest structures in the world. On Day 2 we enjoy a guided tour of Toronto, visiting many of its captivating highlights. On Day 3 you are free to continue exploring at leisure.

Niagara Falls
Day 4

Niagara Falls

Our excursion today takes us to the incredible Niagara Falls, truly one of the natural wonders of the world. During our time at the Falls you have some free time to experience the awesome power of crashing waters, either from the viewing area or at the foot of the thundering Falls on board the Maid of the Mist (payable locally). We continue to Niagara-on-the-Lake, a delightful town, where we have free time to explore. We board the Canadian in Toronto in the evening as we begin our journey across the vast expanse of the prairie grasslands towards the Rocky Mountains.

Days 5-6

On board the Canadian

Our first full day on board is spent crossing the Canadian Shield. On Day 6 we arrive in Winnipeg, a fascinating city which is home to over 50 ethnic communities. The train stops in Winnipeg for the morning, giving us the opportunity to explore. We continue crossing the prairies and arrive in the province of Saskatchewan in the late evening.

Day 7

Through the Rockies to Jasper

After passing Edmonton, we begin the climb into the foothills of the Rockies passing pine forests, glaciers, plunging canyons and soaring peaks. We arrive in Jasper in the early afternoon and spend two nights at the Best Western Jasper Inn & Suites, surrounded by majestic mountain scenery.

Day 8

Jasper National Park

Today we enjoy a sightseeing tour of beautiful Jasper National Park, including the spectacular Maligne Canyon, a 164 foot (50m) deep gorge of sheer limestone walls, waterfalls and rock formations. We also see the gorgeous turquoise waters of Maligne Lake, the largest glacier-fed body of water in the region.

The Icefields Parkway
Day 9

The Icefields Parkway

We depart by coach along the world-famous Icefields Parkway, a 230km road that links Jasper with Lake Louise and takes us through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world. We travel along a lakelined valley past many of the highest and most rugged peaks in the Rockies to the Icefields Centre at the foot of the vast Columbia Icefields. Here we stop to marvel at the breathtaking Athabasca Glacier, and you have the option to enjoy an exciting ride over the icefield by giant snowcoach. We continue to Banff for a three-night stay at the Caribou Lodge.

Days 10-11

Banff National Park

Today we experience the spectacular natural beauty of Banff National Park, visiting beautiful Emerald Lake, renowned for its vivid colours, and the idyllic waters of Lake Louise. Day 11 is free for you to explore the charming resort of Banff at leisure.

The Rocky Mountaineer
Day 12

The Rocky Mountaineer to Kamloops

We embark on a daylight journey through the Rockies on the world-renowned Rocky Mountaineer. This 309 mile (497km) trip to Kamloops takes in the scenery of the 'First Passage to the West' route, passing through Banff National Park and across the Continental Divide. We travel in RedLeaf Class, marvelling at the passing scenery and enjoying breakfast and lunch served at our seats. We overnight at a hotel in Kamloops.

Day 13

The Rocky Mountaineer to Vancouver

Our Rocky Mountaineer experience continues on one of the most dramatic stretches of the line, travelling along the Thompson and Fraser Canyons. As you keep your eyes open for Canadian wildlife, the line descends towards the Pacific Coast. On arrival in Vancouver, we spend two nights at the Blue Horizon Hotel, superbly located on Robson Street.

Vancouver
Day 14

Discovering Vancouver

Vancouver, widely regarded as one of the most desirable places in the world to live, combines the natural blessing of its breath-taking setting with beautiful architecture and a perfectly-pitched attitude and way of life. The city lies between the beautiful Pacific Ocean coastline and the majestic Coastal Mountains. Our morning sightseeing tour visits historic Gastown, an area of coffee shops, galleries and native art stores. We also experience the exciting scents and sights of Chinatown, and leafy Stanley Park, with its colourful Totem Poles. Our tour then takes in Granville Island, located in the heart of the city, which boasts an amazing, mouth-watering food market. This afternoon, you are free to explore this diverse city at your own pace.

Vancouver Island
Days 15-16

Victoria on Vancouver Island

We leave the city of Vancouver today and travel to Vancouver Island by ferry, sailing through the Gulf Islands archipelago, keeping an eye out for wildlife - whales, porpoises, dolphins and seals are all commonly found in these waters, and bald eagles inhabit the area. We spend two nights in Victoria, famous for its idyllic tree-lined avenues and leafy open spaces. On Day 16 you are free to experience Vancouver Island at leisure. Probably the most exciting option is the opportunity to go whale watching, joining one of the boats which leave from Victoria for the waters just off the island's southern tip.

The journey home
Days 17-18

Victoria and the journey home

Your morning is free to spend at leisure in Victoria. We then continue by coach and ferry to Vancouver airport for our flight back to London Heathrow, arriving in the morning of Day 18.
