Having first gone abroad by train at the age of 3, I developed a love of travel as a child. Thus inspired to study languages, I followed a teaching career in international environments on the continent of Europe and in England before I became a Tour Manager.
Golf is my main outdoor leisure activity.
This two-day train journey negotiates the fascinating Spiral Tunnels shortly after departure from Banff, and proceeds westwards through unusual desert landscapes and along the routes of the Thompson and Fraser rivers to Vancouver. In addition to the spectacular and varied scenery, the excellent catering and humorous, informative commentary along the route contribute to a memorable rail experience.
This tour encompasses the colours and sounds of India, with its bustling cities and visits to beautiful historical forts, palaces and memorials. Scenic contrast is provided by the Toy Train journey to Shimla in the Himalayan foothills. Each day is filled with new impressions and surprises. An already full excursion programme can be supplemented by a local rickshaw or tuk-tuk ride to a market and a leisurely swim or treat in the hotel spa.
Relish the unexpected as well as the scheduled aspects of your holiday, as the surprises often outweigh the occasional inconvenience.
Enjoy observing and participating in life away from home at your own pace.
