From the majestic Swiss Alps to the depths of the Grand Canyon, from the hustle and bustle of New York to the silence of the deserted frozen plains of Siberia, Great Rail Journeys tours offer many unforgettable experiences.

In our first and second issues of 'The Journey' magazine, we invited readers to send in their favourite photos taken during one of our tours. If you haven't already entered our photo competition, there is still plenty of time to do so - the closing date is not until
31 December 2009.

Entries may be submitted for the following three categories: 

• Scenery
• People
• Trains

The photographer of the winning picture in each category will receive £200 worth of Great Rail Journeys Holiday Vouchers to put towards their next tour.

How to enter

To participate in the Great Rail Journeys Photo Competition please send your entries by email to photocompetition@greatrail.com together with:

• Your name
• A description of the photograph
• When the photograph was taken
• Which tour you were on
• Which category you would like to enter

Digital images should be no smaller than 1 megabyte in size, 300 dpi and saved as either a JPEG or a TIF file. Printed photographs will not be accepted.

Terms & Conditions

1. The photograph must have been taken by the person submitting it, who must be at least 18 ("you"). By doing so, you confirm you exclusively own the copyright in the photograph and that it is your own original work.
2. By submitting a photograph to us, you give us permission to publish your photograph in any of our brochures, on our website and/or in any other marketing material at any time, free of charge. You also give us permission to crop, or otherwise modify your photograph where required.
3. You confirm that you have the permission of all persons who are identifi able in the photograph (or his or her parent or guardian if under 18) prior to your submitting it to us for publication.
4. Unless you specifi cally ask us not to, we intend to show your name as the photographer of the photograph. If we are unable to do so for any reason however, we will have no liability to you.
5. The winner of each category will be chosen on 31/12/09. Each winner will receive a £200 GRJ holiday voucher which may be used only on a new holiday booking. The judge's decision is final. The winner will be notifi ed by post as soon as possible after 31/12/09. By submitting a photograph by e-mail, you give your consent to your name being published.
6. There is no limit to the number of photographs you may submit. You will be entitled to an entry in the competition for each photograph.
7. We regret we cannot guarantee to return any photograph which is submitted to us by e-mail. We will have no liability for any photograph which we fail to return. Accordingly, you must ensure you retain a copy of the photograph.
8. Photographs are selected for publication at our sole discretion and we will not enter into correspondence in relation to the same. We are not obliged to publish any photograph we have selected.
