Great Rail Journeys, the UK's largest operator of holidays by rail have launched a new website which allows customers to book their holidays online.
Clients can also check live availability, upgrade hotel rooms and rail seats, and make specific requests to ensure that their holiday is perfectly tailored to their needs. The brand new website has been designed to make browsing the company's holidays easier. Customers can now search over 130 individual escorted rail tours worldwide by the destination or a theme such as: Christmas Markets, Single Travellers or Special Interest Holidays.
Paperless brochures can be downloaded from the site, as part of Great Rail Journey's ongoing policy of reducing the use of the world's natural resources. The launch of the improved website will be the cornerstone of the organisation's strategy for growth.
Built by Web Applications Ltd , using initial creative direction prepared by Fortune Cookie, the website is fully integrated with the availability and booking process of the 'Tr@veller' reservation system. Copywriting and search optimization was carried out by Active Solutions, who have been appointed to support Great Rail Journeys ongoing web marketing strategy.
Alex Roberts, Marketing and Sales Director said: "The site is extremely rich in content and also very easy to navigate. Through research we very quickly identified that our customers spend a significant amount of time researching their holiday options online before they book and this new site is a step in providing them with the information they require. A holiday by rail is a unique experience, which this new site works to bring alive."
Mark Taylor, IT Director said: "Strategically this is a very important move for the organisation providing an excellent foundation to deliver increased growth and revenue online. In the last two years we have invested heavily in IT to support all channels of our business, the web site builds on these positioning us well for the future. An invitation to travel agents to sell our tours in January has proved very successful and over the coming months we will be developing the website to provide additional functionality for this important channel."
