Overlooking Lake Garda's western shore, the Hotel Continental enjoys a wonderful location close to Sirmione's historic centre, within easy reach of the town and all of its attractions. The hotel has been completely renovated in recent years, yet still retains some of its traditional features - including its impressive white marble staircases and Venetian Murano chandeliers. Ever popular with Great Rail Journeys' customers, the Hotel Continental won the Gold Award for Best Hotel in Italy for 2010 and in 2011 it won the Silver Award in the same category.

Location

Perched on a peninsula at the southern end of Lake Garda, Sirmione has been a favoured holiday destination since the era of the Romans in the 1st century BC. Having been controlled at times by the Lords of Verona, the Venetians and the Habsburgs, today Sirmione boasts a number of impressive attractions from its rich and varied history. These include the Roman Grotte di Catullo, the grand villa of Catallus and the imposing 13th century Scaligeri Castle. With excellent boat services from the town, Sirmione is a wonderful base from which to explore Lake Garda.
