The historic Excelsior Palace Hotel in Palermo opened in 1891 and enjoys a superb position beside Villa Garibaldi and Giardino Inglese, and reflects the splendour and elegance of the Art Nouveau period. The hotel has a Mediterranean restaurant, bar and lounge, as well as a fitness suite with solarium, sauna and Turkish bath. Massages and beauty treatments are also available (payable locally). In 2010 the Excelsior Palace Hotel won Great Rail Journeys' Gold Award for Food.
