Deutsche Bahn and the Channel Tunnel route
The German national rail operator, Deutsche Bahn, is planning to start running direct train services through the Channel Tunnel from 2013. Providing Deutsche Bahn meet the required safety standards and gain approval from the relevant authorities, the services will offer passengers a direct link from London to Germany and the Netherlands, cutting current journey times. Travel time to Rotterdam is expected to be 3 hours, Cologne and Amsterdam 4 hours and the journey to Frankfurt will be just 5 hours.
