Surrounded by rolling green hills and beautiful expansive vineyards at the edge of the Black Forest is Stuttgart, a city with a long and proud history. Stuttgart today is most famous for the inventions which were born in the city, including the automobile, the office photocopier and the brassiere!
The city's innovative history is reflected in the large number of scientific, research and academic institutes which reside there today - more than anywhere in Germany. The city is also famously home to Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. Attractions in Stuttgart include the Carl Zeiss Planetarium, Germany's top Planetarium, and the Lapidarium, a gorgeous Renaissance-style park.
There is also the incredibly popular Mercedes-Benz Museum, which boasts 160 vehicles which chart the history of the automobile, including early hand-made vehicles, production line classics, high-powered race cars and ultra-modern concept cars. The museum building itself is an attraction for its architecture - it is built in the shape of a double helix.
