Germany is not only at the heart of Europe on a map. As a
meeting point for East and West the verdant German countryside has
seen towns sprout Russian influenced buildings next to
Mediterranean Renaissance architecture. Important historic sights
and sumptuous countryside aside, train travel in
Germany is a pleasure in its own right.
Although Germany has some of the most advanced trains in Europe
boarding a train involves little nonsense. The simplicity of
train travel in Germany is born out of applying
common sense to complex technologies so that travelling is as
enjoyable as possible.

Train Travel in Germany - Traveller's Notes
Train travel in Germany is excellent as a
typically German efficiency provides service you can rely on and
high speed lines which reduce the time between destinations.
Tipping in Germany is much as it is in France and England. For
good service in an average restaurant 5% - 10% of the bill or
€2 per person will usually suffice. As on all Great Rail
Journeys' holidays the Tour Manager will take care of tipping and
most other matters which are payable locally.
