About Me
Most of my career was spent on the railways, initially as a civil engineer, then moving into investment management before taking over responsibility for all tram systems throughout the country. Shortly after taking early retirement I became a Tour Manager - something I have enjoyed for the last three years and hopefully several more to come!
Favourite Tour
It's very difficult to pick one tour as a favourite since each one appeals in a different way to me but if pushed, I would have to plump for one of the Glacier Express tours. Dining on the train whilst marvelling at the wonderful scenery gliding past the carriage windows takes some beating - although the journey on the Bernina Express comes a close second!
Hobbies
Having four grandchildren doesn't leave much time for hobbies but when my wife and I get the chance, we like to go walking. We are currently debating if we could undertake the challenge of the Coast to Coast long distance walk or should settle for something a little less daunting! The longer winter evenings leave more time for me to indulge another interest, reading.
Travel Advice
Don't pack too much - you can probably manage with a lot less than you think and a smaller, lighter suitcase is much easier to handle en route.
