About Me
After 33 years in banking, becoming a Tour Manager was a big change - although I had some experience of taking groups to Europe on holiday, so I had an idea of what I was letting myself in for. Being a Tour Manager gives flexibility and I combine the role with voluntary work for charities. The obvious highlight of the role is seeing so many places and enjoying train travel across Europe but perhaps a bigger highlight is being able to help customers to ensure they have a special holiday.
Favourite Tour
Switzerland is my favourite country because of the scenery and flexibility of travel. Whilst Great Rail Journeys has many excellent tours to Switzerland, my favourite tour is the Golden Panoramic Express. It includes Montreux and Lake Geneva, the high mountains of the Bernese Oberland and my favourite lake, Lucerne - all whilst staying in elegant hotels.
Hobbies
My hobby is collecting transport timetables - I probably have over 1,000 current and historic books. When not travelling, most of my time is taken up being a Trustee of five different charities, all of which draw on my financial background.
Travel advice
Pack frugally - I wish I could do this!
