Itinerary
We meet our Tour Manager and fellow travellers at London St Pancras, where we join the Eurostar service to Paris. Travelling in style in spacious Standard Premier Class, we're served a light lunch at our seats. Changing trains, we continue by First Class rail to Chambéry. After a short break in this attractive French city, we board a comfortable coach for a beautiful journey through the Alps. Enroute, we enjoy stops to absorb the incredible views of towering, alpine peaks, before arriving in Turin where we spend the night. We have our first dinner together in this handsome Italian city.

The return journey was a long winded chore the view the Côte d’Azur was for the most part tunnels. The stop over in St. Raphael was a late arrival , dinner and bed. The next day an early rise breakfast and straight on to the train for Paris, there was no chance to look around St. Raphael at all. What would have made the return journey much more pleasant would have been a two night stay in St. Raphael a day to allow travelers to chill out and enjoy a relaxing day in St. Raphael after all you are on holiday. Having said all that the rest of the tour was very enjoyable.

Overall OK, but far too much time on buses. For example, we could have stayed at San Gimignano & travelled to Sienna from there, saving 4 hours on a bus. Overlong guided tours with too little time before the bus left the venue. For example in Florence I wanted to visit Boboli Gardens but by the time the guide had finished there was too little time before the bus left. An excellent guide, David Morrisroe, dealt with some potentially serious problems like rail strikes. landslides & bomb scares very calmly & efficiently. He actually salvaged the tour.
